Outdoor Cats
Introduction
When we were planning our page we didn't want it to be devoted only to pedigree cats. It was to be a place where we could write some words about cats that live outside. In fact we are writing this page as the last one. Why? It is difficult to write what we are thinking. There is a danger that we will be misunderstood. Anyway, we will try to tell what we mean.
A lot of people talking about pedigree cats, home cats or homless cats, express very extremes opinions. There are people who lives for cat shows, breeding plans and for extreme type of pedigree cat. Leaving their houses they don't see hungry and frozen cats fighting for their lives. They think that they can do nothing and even if they did it would be nothing compared to the great needs of those cats. So they do nothing.

There are people who cares for homless cats living on the streets, they sterylize wild cats, feed them. They bring home dozens of those animals, look for homes for them. In the same time they are ill-disposed towards breeders. They consider them as snobs who love more themselvs then their cats.
Those extremes atitudes do not facilitate the dialogue. (In fact we met one more quite characteristic opinion saying that helping animals is scandalous as there are so many starving children in the world. We have noticed that those people expressing such opinion have never helped any single child...). As we have both; pedigree and domestic cats we would like to take part in the discussion.

We consider that extremes positions toward any group of cats does not bring anything good. People breeding pedigree cats fulfill the need of association with a beautiful animal. The beauty is not an universal concept, also among cats - there is as many definitions of beauty as many races we have. A breeder reproducing pedigree cats do not steal home from homless cats. It is normal that the owner of a pedigree cat is proud of. A good place during a show, good title ennoble also the breeder. And there is so many worse things in the world than a bit of snobism.
There is a lot of animals needing help. There are so many, that we will never be able to help them all. This is sad but this is the reality we have to live with. But those who loves animals will try to help them, even a bit. The fact that we cannot do everything should not stop us to do something.

How can I help? Everyone should ask this question. We think that those who help animals, even a little bit, shouldn't hide it. It is not a shame! Additionally, when the others see that there is a lot of people doing something, that such behavior is rather a norm than a freak - maybe thay would like to join. That's why we give a short information about action Ania from Aurinko performs. If this page convinces even one single person to a slightest action - it will fulfill its mission.
1. Karowa str (photos at the top)
On the Karowa street, near to the President of PR there is a yard where 7 cats live. Cats, especially durind winter, hide themsels in a boiler. A very nice entertainer is looking after them. Every week Ania brings him a little of cat food.

All cats had been sterilised. They are quite wild, but let their protector touch them. Last year the situation was different. A lot of kittens had been born, many of them were killed by cars on the street nearby, inhabitants were complaining about smells. Cat's sterilisation and castration helped to control the situation.
2. Dump cat.
He took his own way...
3. Regular rates
Every month Ania allocates a regular, small rate to a person who takes care of animals. As she is doing it every month it doesn't weigh in her budget. The person has been recomended, so she knows that the money is used for animal's needs.
4. Cat auctions
They are like e-bay auctions with the difference that all money goes to animals. It is funny and one can buy very nice things. Sometimes articles come back to the auction several times - that shows that the need to help is stronger than the need to possess.
5. 1% of impost
Allowed by Polish law. For animal organisations, of course!
